Antoine, a once-talented painter, has spiraled into alcoholism and despair following the tragic death of his wife, Irène. Consumed by self-blame, he becomes desperate to reconnect with her. His path crosses with Suzanne, a penniless sideshow performer posing as a clairvoyant. To clear her debts, Suzanne weaves a complex web of lies, staging improvised hypnosis sessions to channel the deceased.
